I have read all and currently own many of these books. There is a wealth of information for the novice rodmaker and fly fisher who is interested in learning more.

Fishing Bamboo by John Gierach, Glenn Wolff (Illustrator) The Lyons Press; ISBN: 1558215913 The best place to start learning about bamboo. Gierach hits the nail on the head once again. If you are interested in purchasing a new bamboo rod, but have never fished one before, this book is a must.	A Master's Guide to Building a Bamboo Fly Rod by Everett Garrison and Hoagy B. Carmichael Published by Meadow Run Press; ISBN: 0962060976 The Bible. Technically, the Old Testament. The finest book on bamboo rodmaking ever written, if somewhat daunting. Highly recommended, but not the best introduction to rodmaking since it can leave a newcomer in the dust.	Handcrafting Bamboo Fly Rods by Wayne Cattanach Published by The Lyons Press; ISBN: 155821769X The New Testament. Cattanach makes it possible for the rest of us mere mortals to make a decent rod with this fine book. The best book for new rodmakers.	Oregon Bamboo by Joseph H. Beelart Maverick Publications, Willamette City Trading Company, Inc.; ISBN: 0979091209 331 pages The best source on Oregon Bamboo rods and makers.	Trout Grass Documentary film by Volcano Motion Pictures Ed George - Director David Duncan - Writer/Narrator Andy Royer - Executive Producer/Producer A fine documentary film on bamboo agriculture and rodmaking, following bamboo from the source in China to a Montana river via rodmaker Glenn Brackett. Available on DVD. Highly recommended.	Bamboo Rod Restoration Handbook by Michael Sinclair Centennial Publications; ISBN: 1882418115 208 pages Excellent book on rod identification and restoration.	Goodwin Granger - The Rod Man From Denver by Michael Sinclair Self-Published; ASIN: B006R6KNQW 352 pages Hands-down, the very best reference available on Granger Rods. Many color photographs are included.
Colorado Classic Cane by Dick Spurr and Michael Sinclair Centennial Publications; ISBN: 0962943916 168 pages A very good reference available on Colorado rods and rodmakers including Granger and Phillipson.	Dickerson - The Man and His Rods by Dr. Gerald Stein and Jim Schaaf Centennial Publications; ISBN: 0-9629439-3-2 112 pages Best reference available on Dickerson Rods.	Heddon The Rod With The Fighting Heart by Mike Sinclair Centennial Publications; ISBN: 1882418263 248 pages Best reference available on Heddon Rods.	Howells: The Bamboo Fly Rods & Fly Fishing Legacy of Gary H. Howells by Joseph H. Beelart The Whitefish Press; ISBN: 1-936702-55-8 216 pages Great book about Gary Howells by Joe Beelart	The Lovely Reed : An Enthusiast's Guide to Building Bamboo Fly Rods by Jack Howell, Glenn Brackett, Rod Walinchus (Illustrator) Pruett Publishing Co.; ISBN: 0871088681 A very good book on bamboo rodmaking. Excellent taper collection, as well.	Fundamentals of Building a Bamboo Fly-Rod by George E. Maurer and Bernard P. Elser Countryman Press; ISBN: 0881504165 Another very good book on bamboo rodmaking.	The Curtis Creek Manifesto by Sheridan Anderson Frank Amato Publications; ISBN: 1122215762 48 pages My favorite fly fishing primer. Currently out of print. Ironically, the eternal foe of the work ethic, Sheridan Anderson lives on through his work.
